Renovation of Garland, Shriver & Levering Halls
Johns Hopkins University
Baltimore, MD

This project involved the renovation of 28,600 SF of administrative and student services offices in three different buildings. Bid documents were issued in four separate packages to accommodate phasing requirements. All three buildings were occupied and functioning during construction. Construction cost was $2.0 million, and the job was complete in April of 2003.

Existing mechanical systems that were modified included constant volume dual duct, VAV with hot water reheat, 4-pipe fan coil units, and hot water baseboards. New package DX rooftop units were provided for certain areas. In addition, a glycol dry-cooler system and specialized HVAC equipment were provided for Data Centers housing computer servers and supercomputer equipment. Existing plumbing systems were modified to accommodate relocated kitchenettes and toilet rooms.
