Campus Center
University of Maryland, Baltimore

The new 110,000 SF Campus Center houses the campus Bookstore, a Fitness Center with swimming pool, food services, large event multi-purpose facilities and meeting rooms, administrative offices, and ancillary spaces. At a construction cost of approximately $30 million, this signature building will provide a central gathering point for students from all the various professional schools housed by the Baltimore campus of the University of MD.

Mullins Engineering Co., Inc. is responsible for the design of all HVAC systems for the building, including variable air volume air-handlers, hot water reheat and heating distribution equipment, steam service and steam-to-hot water convertors, and associated automatic temperature controls. The swimming pool will be conditioned by a packaged water-cooled system with heat recovery, designed to maintain 84F in the space (2F above pool temperature) with finned tube radiation arranged to avoid condensation on all surfaces.
